This net is tailored as a box. It is 1.40 m high, and each side is 1.20 m long. You can cover with the net a 1.40 m high round hay bale. In the photos you see two different application examples, one lying on a pallet, one standing:
1st: The bale is lying, the open side not covered by net is directed to the fence.

2nd: The bale stands on the pallet with the open side faced to the ground.

The net can easily be streched with carabiners.
Advantages and disadvantages: It is a simple and relatively cheap solution to feed complete round bales. You take benefit of nearly all the advantages of feeding with fine-meshed hay nets. There are of course also some points to consider:
The bale gets smaller with time and possibly unstable. Therefore, the net has always to be streched.
At the best, the round bale stands under a roof to protect him against wetness.
Moreover, it is possible that the horses eat from the top of the bale, so that the anatomically favorable eating position does not exist any more. When the bale becomes smaller, this can no longer happen.
If the bale stands on a palette, this should be strengthened and must not have gaps wider than 3 cm. The horses could walk on the palette!
In this context, the bale-hay net is not applicable to shoed horses!!
